”I was born in a family of six children. I have been a member of the Deaconesses Sisters Community Abaja ba Kristo for 35 years. When I was a little child, I used to attend and participate in Sunday School, whereby we were taught Bible stories, songs and how to pray. At the age of 15, I started to understand better what I had learnt in Sunday School, and the meaning of the Word of God in my life. So, that is when I decided to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

Afterwards, I continued to hear a voice in me telling me to serve God being a sister. I think it is because I was living near one community of Roman Catholic sisters. However, I did not want to change my church. That voice did not cease. In my prayer I asked God saying, “If you want me to serve you in that way, start a community in our church. Meanwhile I kept silence and waited.
About two years later, I heard news that my church want to start a community of sisters. I feared God and was convinced that it was the answer that God gave me. Immediately, I collected all information and went to register for application. I joined the community on the 01st of December 1984.
I am grateful to God for how he has faithfully been with me all over these past years. I faced some difficulties, but the good that God did to me is far more than them. Until today, I don’t regret to have chosen this way.
In my daily life, I serve God as the treasurer of the Community of Deaconesses Sisters Abaja ba Kristo since 2009. Glory be to God for His protection!”

”My name is Sr Clenie Mukanyandwi. I was born in Muhanga District, Southern Province of Rwanda. I was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda – EPR, Rutongo Parish. I was born on 02/03/1980. I was called to serve God in the western province in the community of Deaconesses: Abaja ba Kristo on 15/01/2009. I did Primary School Studies, and later attended a school of tailoring (sewing).
I first felt the call to serve God when I was still young. Even after becoming an adult, I continued to feel that calling. The motif which made me to become a deaconess is: wising people to Christ, taking care of the poor, orphans and widows and sharing the Word of God. My calling is serving God being single. Philippians 2:7. May God keep us.”

”I live in the Community of Deaconesses “Abaja ba Kristo” Rubengera. I decided to do this journey of surrendering my life to God and serving Him alone the whole of my life being single. The reason why I accepted this calling is to turn many people to the cross of Jesus Christ and bring them closer to our Lord.
Anything that I do, whether it is evangelism, hand works, carpentry, handcrafts, or any other kind of work, I consider it to be good and a way of fulfilling my calling. I do all by glorifying God and following the Word of God. 2 Corinthians 8:21 “For we are concerned about what is right not only before the Lord but also before men.” (NET Bible Version)

”I was born in the Southern Province, Nyaruguru District, Ngeta Sector. After receiving Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of my life, I took time to go to God in prayer. Later, I decided to give my life to God. God gave me the Word from Philippians 3:7-8 “7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ” (Phil. 3:7-8 NIV). After receiving that Word of God, I decided to surrender all of myself leaving nothing behind. Thank you.”
